Currently our company is going through an upgrade from using Word to create documents to using Telerik to create the same result. We have hit a wall with the Telerik RAD rich text control to proceed any further. The Word document has no problems opening and displays the merge field embedded in the Word document with the Telerik control. However, when saving the document within the Telerik control the merge fields disappear. Can you please tell us if this is “normal” practice with the control, or is there a way it can be coded so that the control will keep the merge fields embedded in the document?

We are not aware of any issues in the import and export of Word documents with relation to merge fields.
Could you elaborate more on the scenario in terms of:
1. Are the documents in OpenXML (docx) or RTF format;
2. How exactly you are opening and saving the documents, if not using the open and save commands, which the RibbonUI is wired to work with;
3. What version of the controls you are using.
