Currently the RadEditor inserts <object> tags when inserting media.  Is there any way to support using HTML5 audio/video and I guess use the Telerik MediaPlayer?  There seems to be a disconnect here with no integration support.
Thank you,
Christian

Hello Christian,

You are correct that the current media handling of he RadEditor dialogs is not using the advantages of the HTML5 functionality. Due to tasks with higher priority I am unable to give a firm response when such matter could be officially planed and implemented.

I can assure you that using the RadEditor with HTML5 players should be supported as expected in all available browsers. If you indeed need a feature that uses HTML5 features to play media in the content of the editor, I would recommend taking advantage of the Editor's availability to create custom tools and dialogs that interferes with the content as implemented. A suitable example about a custom dialog creation is available in this online demo.

As for the MediaPlayer control, I can only make assumptions on how do you desire such integration to be done. Note that the RadEditor control is a big and complex control that uses internally plenty of other Telerik UI controls. I assume that using the RadMediaPlayer's Client-side API and a custom user control dialog, you should be able to built a usable feature that provides the desired functionality.

If I am mislead on the required information, please get back to me with more details about the the purpose of such integration and the expected results of such achievement.

Ianko

I hope you guys are working on this.

Chrome is removing support for NPAPI with version 45.    That will be coming out soon.    That means that the radeditor object tags will be broken in chrome.

Please make this a priority if you haven't already.    HTML5!

 Thanks!

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback.

I would like to firstly point out that RadEditor is an XHTML editor and HTML5 support is not what would be an OOB solution. There are incompatibilities between these standards and proper support of HTML5 in XHTML editor is somehow controversial.

As mentioned in a support ticket (957418) opened to us, please, share with as your ideas on how to handle the NPAPI plugin situation. Note that building your own custom dialog to support different type of implementation regarding Media Manager is always an option.

Hello Sunil,

I am afraid that such an integration is rather impossible. RadMediaPlayer is designed to play videos on a web page/application. It is powered with huge amount of JavaScript that makes the UI and play the videos. It does not generate a content that would be playable outside the control.

Therefore, I do not see how RadMediaPlayer could help RadEditor to further generate content with movies and audio that would be playable as an out-of-box solution.
