Hello, I would like to use the Telerik plataform to develop an app which I will sell subscriptions of a magazine. The magazine will be published monthly and the content will be in HTML5. What would be the best/right tool for this magazine app? The Telerik Platform? The AppBuilder? Or Kendo UI? Any suggestions?

Do you have a sample of a magazine app built with any Telerik tool?

Thanks,

Anderson

Hello Anderson,

Thank you for your interest in Telerik Platform. To answer your question, I would say that with a single Telerik Platform license, you get all of the above mentioned products, plus some others. To explain myself better, here are the brief overviews:

Telerik Platform - "Telerik Platform is a modular platform for web, hybrid and native development that integrates a rich set of UI tools with powerful cloud services. Telerik Platform integrates AppPrototyper, AppBuilder, Backend Services, Analytics, Mobile Testing, AppManager and AppFeedback to help you solve the challenges of designing, building, connecting, testing, deploying, managing, publishing and measuring your applications." This said, you can think of Telerik Platform as the placeholder for all of the above mentioned services. For more details, I would strongly recommend you to go through the Telerik Platform landing page and the Telerik Platform docs.

AppBuilder - This is the tool (product) that is used for developing hybrid, native applications or mobile web sites. Here is a short quote from the docs: "When you develop and build iOS, Windows Phone 8 and Android mobile apps, you can choose between hybrid development using a single HTML5, CSS and JavaScript codebase and native development using NativeScript. When you develop mobile websites, you can use HTML5, CSS and JavaScript." It is important to say that, AppBuilder is included in each of the Telerik Platform subscription plans and it also could be bought as a separate product. More about AppBuilder can be found here.

Kendo UI - Kendo UI is an HTML5, jQuery-based framework and as such it comes very handy when you are developing hybrid mobile applications or web sites. It can be used inside AppBuilder out of the box via the Package Manager feature. Here, the important thing is that Kendo UI comes in two versions. One for Web and one for Mobile. As an open source project, most of its functionality is free and is included in all of the Telerik Platform or AppBuilder licenses. For the paid features however, you can check the Telerik Platform pricing page as they are included in higher subscription plans. You can find some more information about Kendo UI, here.

As for a sample magazine app, I am afraid there is no such at the moment. However, you can still check the showcases, as I am sure there are some suitable applications to guide you further.

I hope my answer helps.
