lost controls when save/reload layout

I'm able to save and retrieve my xml file.

By doing so ,if I have a grid or charts etc inside the panes,, they disappear.

Thoughts,

I'm playing with the example and I'm getting a error on:
 
this.GetPaneContent

I don't see that listed anywhere in xaml?

thoughts>?
