The diagram control looks very promising but I must be able to control the number and location of the connectors of the Diagram Shape.  I have been unable to locate how to do this.  My domain has a fixed number of entities that I will need to link together but each entity type will have between 1 and 11 connector points.  I will be using DataTemplates to completely control the shapes and was hoping in the template I could identify where I want the connectors to go.  Is it possible to achieve this?

I just wound this on the Q2 roadmap of the Diagram

New Features

  • Shapes
    • Hierarchical groups - you'll be able to group shapes together and manipulate them accordingly.
    • Custom connectors - specify exact point on the shape where a connection could be pinned.

Is there a work around until then?
Will we also be able to control the number of connectors not just the location?

Hi donovan,

Custom Connector - This is exactly the feature you need. It is already done and it supports changing the number of connectors, their location, appearance and so on.
There is way currently to remove some of the connectors (and to add too), but there is no way to specify where it should be positioned. So currently there just five types and that's it - Left, Top, Bottom, Right and Auto. While in the Q2 version you'll have Custom type with Offset point to position it where you need to.
If you're not in a hurry I can suggest you to wait for a month and a half and get the new version. In the meanwhile I can send you preview demo with code and assemblies of the mentioned feature. (just create a private support ticket).
Hope this time frame is ok with you.
