I am new to XAML and windows phone development. I've been searching the forum and have found a couple of examples however I am unable to get the me to work. I am trying to figure out how to change the header background color as well as the selected item color in the popup window. I am trying to do this in VS2012 without using Blend if possible. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hello Gerald,
It is not possible to use Blend and VS for the moment. There is a known issues which prevents the styles to be extracted. We are working on that in order to provider a fix.
Please see the attached project about how to set HeaderStyle and PopupItemStyle properties.
