Hello. I have a project that uses Telerik controls. In my case, I'm dealing with Telerik Reporting.

When I try to preview the report in Visual Studio (I'm using VS 2017), an error about lc.exe is preventing the preview. IIn the past, 've usually deleted license.licx files from the entire solution and things worked.... except for today.

After deleting those licx files, they get re-added ( obviously ) and I'm still unable to preview my report.

What are other ways around this? Deleting the licx files isn't working any more it seems.

Hi Andrew,

Deleting the file should be enough - License File. The file will be recreated when you make changes in reports or add viewers.

in case the recreation of the file leads to errors, please check what information is written in the licx file and post it here.  Include also details about the error message and where it appears. In case of version mismatch, please run the Upgrade Wizard to update all reports and viewers to use the same Telerik Reporting version.

Stef

Here is what is in my licence.licx file. I'd like to point out that my project also has 128 references. Is the amount of references an issue? I wouldn't think so.

Telerik.Reporting.TextBox, Telerik.Reporting, Version=10.1.16.615, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=a9d7983dfcc261be
Telerik.Reporting.PictureBox, Telerik.Reporting, Version=10.1.16.615, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=a9d7983dfcc261be
Telerik.Reporting.SubReport, Telerik.Reporting, Version=10.1.16.615, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=a9d7983dfcc261be
Telerik.Reporting.CheckBox, Telerik.Reporting, Version=10.1.16.615, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=a9d7983dfcc261be

Hi Andrew,

The licx file should store information only about Telerik related components.

Please test deleting only the content of the file. If this does not work, check which report uses a SubReport item and how the SubReport.ReportSource is set. If it is set to an InstanceReportSource, please update it to a TypeReportSource ('Type name' option in the Load Report Dialog).

In case the problem remains, please open a support ticket and send us the problematic project to check its settings locally. In a support ticket you can attach zipped files privately.

Stef
