Javascript Template Example In Overview doesn't work

Can someone point me to a functional jsFiddle or equivalent that has something like the example shown here: http://docs.kendoui.com/getting-started/framework/templates/overview  under External Templates and Expressions


Note the improper <ul> in the example, which to me is indicative of this not being code that was pasted from a successful running example.

Anyway, posting code snippets is not enough - post a link to a working example please : )

I looked at the examples and demos of templates. Then I came to the Template Overview because the demo didn't work. The same example has the same error in the demos and has not been fixed there as of my original post, FYI.

I add a document.write() around the template(data)). 

A visual result is critical for novice learners! I thought template took care of writing out the html to the page. Am I wrong?

I suggest putting that in the example or something equivalent.
