I just installed the developer version test tool, opened Visual Studio 2010, setup a new test project.
When I select 'add new test', then select 'WebAii Test' and click on OK I got this error:

"
Error initializing recorder: HTTP could not register URL
http://+:8000/DesignCanvas/2792/. Your process does not have access
rights to this namespace (see
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=70353 for details).

Recording will not function.
"

please help, I am running windows 7 by the way
thanks in advance

Hi sf,

  1. Are you running in an account that's part of the Administrator group? Our tool requires administrator level access to function properly. If necessary right click on "Visual Studio" in your start menu and select "Run as administrator" in order to get administrator level rights.
  2. Are you using IE7 or above? We only work with IE7 or later. Unfortunately the recorder doesn't work with IE6 or lower. We use features that were added with IE7.
  3. Is IE configured as in this article?

Ouch.. any way to avoid running Visual Studio as administrator?  Can we get that changed in the next release?  It's bad for secure development practices.
