I would like to know if it is possible to convert the HTML render of an ASPX page to a PDF fil with the Telerik Reporting DLL ?

Is there something which can take an URL and transform it to a PDF document ?

Thank you for help...

Hello Haderach,

Currently is not possible to embed HTML in a report and respectively export to PDF with our Reporting engine. This feature is nevertheless on ToDo list for the next major version (v2, due next year).

If you are looking for a more immediate solution, simply ask Google for "HTML to PDF".

You can convert HTML to PDF by using this free online service www.freepdfconvert.com.  Over 117 file formats are supported and you can also convert PDF files to Word, RTF, Excel, and JPG.  This service is free with some limitations and for a nominal fee, you can join this subscription membership and unlock the limitations.

Hi, has this feature been done?

I want only to convert and html page to PDF. Does telerik offer a solution for this or I have to pay the license for AbcdPDF ? I've seen that the radeditor does the conversion between HTML to PDF so is there not a service that I can use to do the same? It looks like it should be possible!

regards,

jose

Hi Jose,

I think that the request in this thread is for ASPX page convert to a PDF file, which is not a goal for a reporting product and you can use 3rd party products to handle such requirement. Telerik Reporting can export a report you've created to PDF format, but that is different from what you say you need.

Hi Steve,

Does your statement from 2011 still hold true?  I have a requirement to take several html pages merge them and create a PDF.  Can this be done with anything from DevCraft?  It doesn't have to be the Reporting tool since these are static html files.

Ben

Hello Ben,

The RichTextBox from our RadControls for Silverlight suite seems to be able to do what you ask for. If you have any specific questions about it, please open a ticket for this control.

As a report user I want to get an array of web pages into one PDF file based on the print style sheet for each page so that it looks exactly the same as if I opened the web page myself and chose to print the web page.

Possible?

Hello Per Christian,

This is not possible to accomplish with the Telerik Reporting product - see previous replies for more information.
However as suggested in our last post, the RichTextBox from our RadControls for Silverlight suite could do the job. You should import the web pages as document fragment with the html format provider and use a RadDocument to combine and export the resulting content.

Usually html to pdf converters are available as software packages that can be purchased and downloaded over the internet. The converters are then installed onto your system, and you can start the conversion process as per convenience. I have tries Expert Pdf and got good result. There are various available some are free and some are paid.

Hello Pankaj,

Telerik Reporting is built against .NET4 as of Q2 2013. Also Telerik UI for AJAX SPreadProcessing, that supports export in PDF via PdfFormatProvider, requires .NET4.

Telerik Reporting engine works only with reports designed by the available report designers. The engine can render Telerik.Reporting.Report objects into various formats. If it is an option for you, you can read data from Excel files via .NET data provider and the reporting SqlDataSource component. The designed report can be then exported programmatically or from a viewer control.

I hope this information is helpful.

Regards,
Stef
