Hi Scott,
Yes, it is possible to fire client side events. Please review the following article on how to handle click event with jQuery. Keep in mind also that the client side object $telerik.$ gives you a reference to jQuery. In case that you want to handle server side events you need to place a button in the GroupItem's template.
