This issue had been discussed in the github repository. I'm posting the final resolution here for anyone who has similar issue.
The problem was missing /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.5.sdk/ After installing it, make sure to add the following lines to your shell profile:
export C_INCLUDE_PATH=/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.5.sdk/usr/include
export LIBRARY_PATH=/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.5.sdk/usr/lib

After that restart your shell and everything should work fine.
