And no, running in an administrator window does not get past the error.
Running with the /a switch just brings up the install window with the only button available Finish.

For anyone else having problems with UAC when trying to install, try this:
Open a command line prompt in administrator mode
>justtracebeta_trial.msi

Hope this helps some people.

Oh, and UAC is not turned on.

Thanks for reporting the issue. Sorry to hear that the existing workaround is not working for you scenario. We will investigate the installer in this environment and make sure runs correctly. Apologies for the beta installer issues.

The product team will review this shortly and provide a resolution ASAP.

Having the some problem and starting it from command prompt with the /a switch also didn't work.
Tested it on two computers (both Windows 7 Professional).

Interesting. We'll definitely start investigating more scenarios to improve the post-Beta installer.

Please make sure .NET 4.0 is installed on your system, too. That may be a contributing factor if you're having problems installing JustTrace.

Hi all,

Thank you all for your feedback. It is very valuable to us and we intend on acting upon it. As a proof please try our first internal build which mainly addresses the installation process and improves it. You could download it from this link.

Hopefully you won't have installation troubles anymore, but if you do, please let us know.

I just wanted to confirm that the /a switch doesn't work, running it from a cmd window started as an administration did not work, and installing the latest internal build under the local administrator account did not work. I still cannot get past the error regarding a missing registry key starting with HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE32.

Hi Chris,

We plan to release an internal build next week. You should not expect an internal build each week though. Our goal is to release two or three more internal builds because the community feedback so far was very valuable. Stay tuned.

I'm also unable to install the latest version, although I never had an issue with the first release. I'm running the installer on Windows 7 Pro 32bit. I didn't remove the original installation before installing.

The relevant part of the log seems to be:
