Here is a wierd problem.  I am not sure whether it is specific to my client machine or not...

In IE8, open a web page with RadEditor (Q3 2009, SP2) on it and then open the Image Manager in Rad Editor.  Cancel out of the image manager.  Now immediately close the browser window.

In my system, it throws an exception in IE.  Not a huge issue, because I was closing IE anyways, but disconcerting to my users to see it.

This does not happen in Firefox.

Can anyone else replicate this behavior?  Any ideas?

Hi Tad,

I tried to reproduce the problem on my side but to no avail. Could you please try to reproduce the issue using the Live Demos?

For your convenience I have attached a movie demonstrating my tests. Could you please check it to see if I am doing something wrong?

Best regards,

Dobromir,

Yes, you are executing the correct sequence of events, and yes, the demo fails on my machine as well.

I have tracked down the problem to an interaction with an Adobe Add-on.   I have 4 add-ons installed as part of Adobe Acrobat.  (I'm not sure if they were installed with the Acrobat Reader or with the full version of Acrobat -- I have both installed on this computer).

When I disable these Add-ons, the problem goes away.  The Add-ons are:

Name          Adobe PDF
Publisher     Adobe Systems, Incorporated
Status        Enabled
File date     Friday, December 18, 2009, 2:38 AM
Version       8.2.0.81
Load time     0.04 s

Name          Adobe PDF Link Helper
Publisher     Adobe Systems, Incorporated
Status        Enabled
File date     Monday, December 21, 2009, 6:27 PM
Version       9.3.0.148
Load time     0.01 s

Name          Adobe PDF Conversion Toolbar Helper
Publisher     Adobe Systems, Incorporated
Status        Enabled
File date     Friday, December 18, 2009, 2:38 AM
Version       8.2.0.81
Load time     0.08 s

Name          Adobe PDF
Publisher     Adobe Systems, Incorporated
Status        Enabled
File date     Friday, December 18, 2009, 2:38 AM
Version       8.2.0.81
Load time     0.00 s

BTW, I'm running Windows Vista 64bit.  The problem occurs in both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of IE8.

I hope this helps.  Let me know if there is any more info I can give you or any testing you'd like me to do on your behalf.

Hi Tad,

Please accept my sincere apologies for the late response. I am still unable to reproduce the problem and we will need more time to investigate this issue.

After installing Acrobat Pro 8 and Acrobat Reader 9 I got only 3 add-ons (the first three you got) and missing the last one. I noticed, however, that the first and the last add-ons are the same. Have you tried to reinstall these two Adobe products? The problem might be caused by incorrect installation of the add-ons. Also, could you please paste the Internet Explorer's exception that you get?

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Dobromir,

I've tracked it down to a three way interaction between Rad Editor, Adobe PDF Link Helper, and LastPass.  If I disable EITHER LastPass or Adobe PDF Link Helper, the problem goes away.

Hope this helps.  Siince it's such an esoteric bug, I'm not too worried about it; b ut something you should be aware of.

Thanks.

Hi Tad,

Thank you for the detailed information. I reproduced the problem on our side after installing LastPass add-ons. I will bring this problem to the attention of the developers for further investigation.

The problem occurs only when Adobe PDF Link Helper and LastPass Toolbar are both enabled. For the time being as a workaround I can suggest you to disable the less used addon.
Note:
Adobe PDF Link Helper is installed with Adobe AcrobatReader.
LastPass Toolbar is installed with LassPass tool.

All the best,
