I've downloaded the RadControlsAJAXCourseware and I am more than a little frustrated.  Every project I've opened appears to have problems.  (Why should I have to add using statements to every web page in every project????)   On the other hand I have to admit that I am more familiar with Web Projects than Websites.

For now I'd like some help with the ObjectDataSourceDemo.  I've copied in our licensed 3.5 dlls to BIN and compiled.  There appears to be a problem with the Tasks.cs file.  If I click on the Object Data Source and try to refresh the schema I get the message 'The type 'ObjectDataSourceDemo.Tasks could not be loaded.  If the type is located in the App_Code folder, please check that it compiles.'

(Everything appears to compile normally.  So far I've been unable to find a coherent explanation of this problem on the web.)

Hello Boris,

Can you please elaborate on the controls that you are using for your scenario? Can you also provide a url to the demo that you are trying to implement, so that I can get a clearer idea of what you are trying to achieve? In order for us to help you in the most efficient way I would also recommend that you open a support ticket and provide us the code that you are using, so we can test it locally and determine what is causing the exception that you get.

Regards,

I don't have any 'scenarios'.  I was trying to run your code as is, the demos you get out of the RadControlsAJAXCourseware.zip file.

Hi Boris,

Can you please clarify one or few of the projects that you are trying run and that gives you an exception? Thus, we can test them locally and check what the issues are and provide you with a suitable solution? I will need the name of the control and the name of the project that you experience issues with.

Thank you for your cooperation in advance.

All the best,
Kate

All of them.  Seriously. My original post explained the problem.  They are not ready to run 'out of the box', at least not in Visual Studio 2012.  There's one reference after another about copying this or adding that.  I just don't get it.

In all fairness I also have a local problem in that for some reason our managment doesn't want us to have SQL Server Express on our local machines which led to more problems.

You might want to consider creating SQL Scripts for all the databases involved, just so we can install on remote SQL Servers.  (So far as I know you don't have a script for the Telerik database in the package.)

Hi Boris,

Since, you obviously encounter issue with the ObjectDataSource sample project that I am no able to replicate locally here I attach a simplified runnable project with the trial assembly files demonstrating how the project runs from my side. To run the project you will simply need to click on the solution file. I also tested it with VS 2012 and everything works as expected from my side. I would also like to thank you for your suggestion. We will indeed consider creating SQL scripts for the databases involved when updating the sample projects.

Kind regards,
