I've got to believe that a lot of people want to render HTML in an app but don't like the idea of using the MS "WebBrowser" control given its HUGE DLL and the mess that can result if the client machine doesn't have IE installed.

The RichTextBox isn't real HTML so that doesn't help.

So, how about a nice, lightweight, HTML rendering text box.  Could be read-only for the first release and then, if you guys have some free time - :) - you can add Edit capability.

Thank you for the suggestion, Emmanuel, your points were updated. Indeed, we have plans to offer a HTML editor for WinForms later this year, however we cannot commit to any deadlines yet. Please, check the Roadmap regularly for updates and upcoming products.

That's good news.

I would suggest that if you are doing a full-blown editor, that also package it into a lightweight, read-only mode HTML renderer.  I love to display stuff in HTML in my apps but also like to keep my apps small (especially for MS ClickOnce one-time execution-only scenarios), so a small footprint is a must for me.

We will see what we can do, Emmanuel. Let us start working on the editor first :)

We have had similar requests for a lighter editor for the ASP.NET suite, and if the interest in a Lite HTML-rendering WinForms textbox is great enough, we will surely offer such.

All the best,
