Hi,

We have completely converted a solution we were building from ASP.NET to a desktop app using Winforms.

Previously we were using the Telerik HTML editor in the application and it was excellent (The application functions as our website backend so we need to be able to write html formatted content). However now we have converted over to the Winforms control we have got a problem as there doesn't seem to be a decent Telerik control for this.

For possible solutions can you tell me -
1/. How we would go about opening up the ASP.NET HTML editor in a pop-up window when the user clicks into the winforms field (or an icon next to it ) so they can use the editor, then pass the changed information back into the winforms field before saving to DB. Would this work and is would it be easy to impliment?

2/. What would you recommend as a good winforms html editor that we can use in the telerik winforms controls until telerik sort out a proper winforms html editor.

Many thanks.

Hello James,

Thank you for contacting us and your interest in our WinForms controls.

1. I am not sure that the editor can function without an ASP.NET server, but you can use the following KB article about integrating RadEditor in a WinForms application. It answers your question about getting the text of the editor on the client side using a JavaScript function.

2. Please elaborate on your scenario. We may develop such a control in future and your feedback may help in determining the needs of our customers.

Well the situation is fairly simple really. We run a large website with around 5,000 products, categories and other information. We have built one system that runs our entire back office systems using Telerik Webform controls.

Now as this application also manages all our web content, we need to be able to visually edit that content within the system. At the moment we can't because there is no control to easily do this (like the html editor in ASP.NET controls).

Therefore we have to look for a third party application that we can use with the Telerik webform controls so we can edit HTML content within the system.

From looking through the forum there seems to be a lot of people also wanting the same thing, but nothing yet has been satisfactorally developed.
