Is there a way to set some restrictions for the LayoutControl?

1. Is there a way to limit selection only to parent containers (LayoutControlGroup) ?
2. Is there a way to disable resizing of the control groups?
3. Is there a way to hide or customize the content of the pop-up panel?
4. Is there a way to restrict docking (i.e. allowing to move elements only vertically or horizontally) ?

Hello Greg,

Thank you for using the RadLayoutControl. As the RadLayoutControl was just released as Beta and in its current state it is lacking some features. We are collecting any feedback for the control in order to improve it and make it more flexible and easy to use.
With our next release (which is scheduled  for the mid/end of Semptember) we will release the RadLayoutControl as official with new features included. We will expose a mechanism for the clients to:
- hide/show the manipulation popup, for items they want.
- dissable/enable the resizing for items they want.
- forbid/allow dragging of items they want.

With the features described above you should be able to accomplish the first three points in your requirement.
As for your last requirement " allowing to move elements only vertically or horizontally" could you please elaborate us with a little more information about the use-case scenario that this feature will cover. We are collecting any information about the usage of the RadLayoutControl in order to plan future features.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Hello. I am glad yo hear you plan on improving the control.

As an example for point 4
"4. Is there a way to restrict docking (i.e. allowing to move elements only vertically or horizontally) ?"
imagine I have vertical or horizontal stack of LayoutControlGroups and that I want to give the user the ability to reposition the groups but in a way that's intuitive and that makes sense. So, for a set of vertically stacked groups, I want the user to be able to rearrange them only vertically without giving the user an opportunity to dock a group to the left or right side.

Hello Greg,

Currently we does not have such functionality, that is why you could submit a feature request in our feedback portal. The features are implemented based on the votes and the impact of the feature over the control(user usage).
