The detail section of my report is dynamic therefore report might contain 1 or 2 or more pages depending on number of rows of data. In order the footer of the report to be printed only on the last page I placed footer block on page footer and set the properties 'PrintOnFirstPage=false' and 'PrintOnLastPage=true'.
Unfortunately, in two pages report I see rather big chunk of white space below the data rows on the first page. The data rows continue on the second page. I believe this space is simply space allocated by the system for page footer which in my case is not supposed to be printed on any page except the last one. Does anybody know whether it is possible to get rid of this white space or not?
Thank you very much in advance!

Page sections are not related to the report itself, but are relative to the margins of the report's media, i.e. to the paper or screen, so their size is constant and the behavior you observe is correct.

Has this "consume whitespace" feature been added to Telerik reporting yet?
It is an essential to collapse whitespace in footers that are hidden, for example, how would one put a large "Signature" area, and other invoice totals at the bottom of the last page of an invoice without having this wasted whitespace on every other page?
See attached screenshot, the large green area only appears on subsequent pages, but on the first page a big whitespace gap is left where it is.
the free Microsoft Report Builder , which is very similar to Telerik Report Designer also has this problem with the footer, although Microsoft Report Builder has a "consume whitespace" report setting, it only applies to the body and not the footer.
Crystal Reports seems to handle this elegantly.
A request for this feature has been approved in our feedback portal - check out this post. However, we would still suggest putting your vote for it as the features are selected for deployment based on the user demands.
Also please note, that we operate in a very dynamic environment and we cannot provide the information whether the feature will be included in future releases.
In a meanwhile, you can test if using ReportFooter or GroupFooter sections will be more suitable for your scenario. Unlike the PageFooter, those sections are printed only once per report/group - please see more detailed information in Report Structure.
Hope this will help.

Thanks katia, good advice. We tried report and group footer however the problem is that it appears right up against the last data row, we want it to appear in the footer. Think of a printed invoice the customer wanted us to design the report like his current invoice, I don't know why, but he wanted it like that!
our requirement is to print the footer information at the bottom of the page on the last page, not right up against the last data row. I guess it's hard to do that's why it hasn't been done!
You have the option to set PrintAtBottom=True for both ReportFooter and GroupFooter sections. This will move those sections to the bottom of the page before the PageFooter.
If you have specific scenario, you can open a support ticket and attach a sample project with your current settings and test data. This way we can advise you suitable option.
