I use Xamarin Studio on Mac with a Xamarin Indi license. I tried to download the Telerik UI for Xamarin and got a MSI file which is meant for Windows. Is there a way, I can install the Telerik UI for Xamarin Plugin on Mac?

Thanks

Hello Surya,

For the Mac OS X we provide manual installation in the form of a ZIP file that you can download from here. We will expose that file at the Download Trial page, so that you and the other Mac users can get it easily.

I hope this helps.

Hi Adolfo,

You can find the zip file in Your Account >> Products & Subscriptions >> Trials >> UI for Xamarin Cross-Platform >> Download >> Telerik_UI_for_Xamarin_2016_1_204_3_Trial.zip .

The link I provided in my previous response is no longer active.

I hope this helps.

I would also like to get a Mac download for the trial, but I cannot find any links to it.  None of the above links work, and there does not appear to be a "UI for Xamarin Cross-Platform" anywhere on the Trials page, nor is there any link on the "UI for Xamarin" download page.  Could you provide me with a link for a download?

Frankly, not having a Mac specific download link seems like a huge oversight at this point.  Surely there are a great deal of Xamarin developers that are using Macs for Xamarin iOS development?  It seems ridiculous to me that you have have not managed to provide a consistent, working download link.

Hi Trystan,

In order to see UI for Xamarin Cross-Platform under Trials in your account, please first initiate a download of the file MSI file from the UI for Xamarin Download page which will activate a Trial license for UI for Xamarin in your account. Then you will be able to find UI for Xamarin under the Trials section in your account.

Regarding the Mac download in general, we had it active until a month ago. Then we introduced a major redesign to all download pages for the UI products, which however, did not include the Mac scenario. We are working on it as we speak and I hope it will go live soon.

I've been trying to get this set up for about an hour now, and I can't seem to find the proper files on this site.

I went and downloaded the .msi file, deleted it, then went to my downloads page, found the .nuget file for the "UI for Xamarin Cross-Platform" and was able to install it via the "add packages" menu in Xamarin. (the method found here: http://docs.telerik.com/devtools/xamarin/installation-and-deployment/getting-started-mac doesn't work, as the package doesn't show up)

Now, I am missing "Telerik.Xamarin.ios" "Telerik.XamarinForms.Common"  "Telerik.XamarinForms.Common.ios" "Telerik.XamarinForms.DataControls" "Telerik.XamarinForms.DataControlsRenderer.ios". I've been trying to find and download the packages, however, all i can find are .exe and .msi files for download. I can't seem to find any .nuget files in to "downloads" under my account either.

Is there nowhere I can get these packages for Xamarin on OSX or am missing something simple

Not sure if these are what I am looking for, but I was able to find the .dll's for the trial package in

"/...[app_name.app]/packages/Telerik.UI.for.Xamarin.Trial.2016.2.614.1/lib/xamarinios10/" that correspond with the ones missing, however, I still can't get them to work. Any help is appreciated.

Hello Samuel,

The Telerik NuGet server allows users to download only packages available for their specific account. This means that if your account does not have active license you will not be able to see any NuGet packages. In this regard I cannot see any purchases related with your account which may be the reason why you cannot see the NuGet packages. Please contact your license holder and ask him/her to relate your account with a particular purchase in order to allow you to use the Telerik NuGet server.

As for getting started on MAC OS, you will need to download from your Telerik account an archive (a simple ZIP file) containing all binaries. It is always a good idea to download our latest official release. Right now the latest available archive is called Telerik_UI_for_Xamarin_2016_2_614_1_Trial.zip Once you download it you will need to manually reference all the binaries in your project.

As for your last post, it seems that you have referenced the NuGet package in your project. If the Telerik binaries are placed in a folder named packages it is most likely that the Package Manager placed them there. Which is direct result of installing the NuGet packages in your project.
However, I do not understand what exactly is going wrong on your side. What exactly you have in mind when you say:"I still cant get them to work"? Is there any error reported by the IDE? Please share with us additional information regarding your particular setup.

Thanks for the response.

It looks like re-downloading the .nuget file and pointing the package manager to the download location did it. I was finally able to find the "Telerik UI for Xamarin Trial" in the package manager. Maybe the download was just corrupted? I'm not sure.

I THINK the issue was mainly with the .nuget trial package never appearing in the package manager to begin with, so something didn't install properly, even with the file location being manually being referenced in the package manager.

For reference, I've attached the errors that I had when setting it up. The first attachment is the initial error I had with the system. The next shows that the files were "referenced" (but not available? not sure, still figuring this out). The last error was showing that the Telerik package wouldn't show up at all in the package manager. The final attachment is the screenshot of the package finally showing up in the package manager this morning. (I was able to just click it and add it, which resolved the errors)

At this point, I'm not sure if it was something to do with Telerik, or Xamarin, but either way, the issue is resolved.

The other two I am working with (on windows) already are enjoying it, so depending on how the rest of the trial goes, we may look into getting a full license. Not to mention fast support and a quick response is appreciated.
