Hover appointment - can I add a new button?

By default, when you hover over an appointment, a "red x" close button appears on the appointment.  Can I make a modification to add another button when hovering over an appointment?  And if so, where would I handle the click event on this button?

Can you please specify if you just need to change the delete icon or you need to add a new button with extra functionality on hover?
