Has anyone tried or successfully used Scheduler for Hotel booking or reservations application?
I am looking for something like a graph for all rooms in a weekly or monthly basis for easy viewing of available rooms.
I would appreciate anyone who can give me some leads.
Thanks
Jimi

You would need a scheduler that displays days as rows and rooms as columns (or otherway round)! Time is not really important for your view.
It would be interesting to find out how Scheduler can be used in your case. May be define time-slot as days and then display a resource view with rooms.

Piyush,
That's a good idea. I think I need to try Days as columns and Rooms as rows since Rooms can be more than 100's.
Thanks

I am not sure if Scheduler displays rooms (resources) as rows. But then you would have to manipulate Time as Room and Days as resources?? (Kind of ugly). I am not sure what advantage you would get by using Scheduler in this case?

Hi Peter,
I think the new feature of Q1 2008 RadSCheduler that will support views grouped by resources would be pretty close to what I'm looking for. It gonna be some time next month right?
Thanks,
-Jimi

indeed i have checked out the various demos ... the real issue and difference for a hotel room type resource is that it's booked from 12 noon one day to 12 noon the next and then another booking takes over, i am trying to figure out how that fits into your views.
the time line view for resources seems close but dont know if it will show the bookings in a easy to read way
grateful for your thoughts
thanks

Timeline view can be grouped by resources (Rooms) in a vertical direction which will provide an easy way to read it. The Timeline view demo will give you an idea of how RadScheduler will look like in this scenario:

is there anyway in timeline view to have the two reservations butting up to each other rather than overlapping
if in the demo i book the black room from 2pm on 5-may to 10am 6-may and then 2pm 6-may to 10 am 7-may .. the two bookings show as overlapping on the timeline whereas i want them to display as contiguous bookings

Hi kevin,
Try setting SlotDuration to 12 hours or less. Of course the appointments shoud not overlap chronologically.

ok ..
going to have to play around with this i assume having set a 12 hour slot i can then determine the display width of a slot on the form ?

Consider the ColumnWidth property. :)
