In Facebook, when composing an email, the user is shown a dropdown similar to the radComboBox Filtering feature. (see screenshot link below).  When selected, the selected item has a blue wrapper with X to be able to delete a selected item easily.  With the samples I've seen, you can't delete individual items.  It seems that you have to start over especially if you want to delete the very first item you selected. Starting over is not ideal if you already selected a few.  Any idea how to accomplish similar functionality?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Scott Rupp,

RadComboBox does not support the requested feature. The closes behavior we support is autocomplete separators demonstrated in this online example.

Thanks. I was looking at that example before.  Unfortunately, when you have selected multiple items, there is no way to easily remove an item you selected, specially the very first item, without starting over.  A dropdown with checkboxes in one of the examples I have seen would be great but only if you don't have a lot of items in your combobox.

I have sent this feedback/feature request in the support.  Thanks.

I second the "request".  I need this functionality as well.  Here is a php example:

Here's another from the ASP.NET Control Gallery:

I'd rather stick with Telerik, but may look at extending one of these controls.

Last I heard was "status quo".

I posted another request here: http://www.telerik.com/community/forums/community-forums/forum-suggestions/facebook-style-combobox.aspx

Hello there,

We will consider implementing this feature after the next SP is out as now time does not permit it.

Sincerely yours,
Simon

I realize that this post is a couple of years old but I'm still waiting for this kind of feature to become available.

Is this feature even being considered to be implemented?

Hello Scott,

We've considered this feature many times for the last two years and our final decision is that we will not implement it. It is too custom to be an integral part of the already packed with features RadComboBox.

There are custom solutions already built and they are lightweight and focused only the task. Here is one example.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,
Simon

Thanks Simon but this is the kind of feature I would expect Telerik to add. Facebook, Hotmail, and Google has millions of users and this is something people has accustomed to using now. I believe it has become part of the norm.  If this can't be added to the existing RadComboBox because it complicates the current tool, then perhaps creating a new tool that would accomplish this feature would be an alternative solution.

I'm sure I'm not alone in the need of developing something like this especially since our sites are already tightly integrated with telerik tools.

Amen brother.  This is becoming a web standard and would play very nicely with the RadCombo box.
