I'm trying to set the height of the editor (version: 4.4.1.0), but my settings don't seem to take.  Is there a bug?  All the other properties, including width, seem to be working just fine.

Hello,

Where are you using the editor in MOSS (publishing, wikis, etc.)? The publishing editor width and height are usually set from control properties in SharePoint Designer. The list editor tries to set its width and height according to the columns/rows attribute of the list field. The Web part editor width/height can be set from the Appearance panel in the web part menu.

We are using this in various lists as a replacement to the standard MOSS editor .  What is odd to me is that I can set width and height property just fine using the listconfig.xml file in our development environment which runs version 4.3.2.0.  In PROD which runs 4.4.1.0, I can only set width, but not height using the listconfig.xml file.  Any thoughts on this discrepancy?

Hello,

As I mentioned earlier, the list editor should get its height/width from the columns/rows attributes of the list column definition. I think this feature was included only in the latest editor for MOSS release (4.40 or 4.41). This explains why you see the difference between the development and production environments. When you add a column of type "Multiple lines of text" to a list, you can enter the number of lines for editing. This value is used by the editor and it seems to be overriding the Height setting you have in the ListConfigFile.xml. Unfortunately, I don't think that there is a way to modify the number of lines value for an existing column. The list settings allow only to change the column name and not its type.
