Handle the return key in RadGrid edit/insert mode

I would like to be able to handle the Enter key when my RadGrid is in Edit/Insert mode.
I am using a FormTemplate for the edit/insert, which contains a LinkButton which is used to submit the action. I have tried adding a
<form defaultbutton="btnSubmit"> to the edit form but this doesnt work, in fact pressing Enter while in Edit mode opens up a new row for inserting a record.
Anyone got a suggestion please?

The solutions suggest either setting the defaultbutton of a panel or capturing the keydown event  to perform the update operation.
