I ran into a one time only (so far) situation where I had made a number of changes to a file in the Graphite editor.  I went to click Save (or Save All) and the option was disabled as if it had not detected I had many any changes.  I made another simple change in the file and again the Save option was not available preventing me from saving my work (very serious).  I copied the modified code into Notepad and then tried closing the file tab and reopening the html file.  Sure enough my changed were lost by Graphite (again very serious) - fortunately I had thought to make a copy before closing the tab.

Because the Save/Save all options are not 100% perfect in detecting whether files are changed, I highly recommend allowing us to use the Save buttons regardless if the IDE thinks there are changes.  This is a very serious bug because it means people can lose work.  It would be much safer to keep the Save button active always as a way to allow us to save our work in case something like this happens again.

Followup: This has now happened twice in my project. There is still the work-around of copying your opened source file from the editor, paste it into notepad, close the file, reopen the file, and paste your code back in to the editor.  The Save options will work after you close and reopen the file but it is still very sketchy when the IDE will not let you save your current work.

Hi Courtney,

The Save menu option would always be enabled whenever you have made a change and have not saved explicitly or by running a build (which would save your changes). So in short the behavior you observe is not expected and we would need more information. Please send us the following logs:
  • Attach files from %LOCALAPPDATA%\Telerik\BlackDragon\Logs folder
  • logs from FiddlerCap (with the Decrypt HTTPS Traffic option enabled). Start it before launching Graphite and save the HTTP requests Graphite performs to disk. Save the sessions and attach it to a public file server so we can review it.
  • Run a ping to app.icenium.com with 2000 bytes of data whenever the problem starts to occur i.e. run command prompt as Administrator and type "ping app.icenium.com -l 2000 -t" without the quotes and let it run for several minutes. Then check whether you have any packets lost and what is the %.

I've had the same thing happen twice.  The editor shows the changes, but no changes are saved beyond a certain point.  They don't get saved upon build either.
