Guys/Gals of Telerik,

This IS getting a little silly now, something that should be VERY simple is turning into a nightmare ... I just want to get the latest version of RadControls for SL5 -- and I can't???

1.  In VS 2010 I get a yellow/green window that flashes on (at startup) for about 2-3 seconds and disappears - sorry I'm not fast enough to read it and then hit ok (why on earth is this even on a timer??).

2.  So I go to this web site ... could you make it more difficult to find the latest builds??  So after hunting around the telerik web site I find some application I can install that will do the download/updates for me (should not need to do this since the same functionality is supposed to be in my VS 2010 Telerik menu options but there is no way to manually have it find and trigger a download) ... I install it, run it (this min-application has to be the worse interface I've ever seen ... who designs your site and app UI's ... OMG they are terrible) and it downloads a RadControls for Silverlight Q2 2012 SP2 ... doesn't use any of the naming conventions used before like RadControls_for_Silverlight5_2012_2_0912_Dev_hotfix.  Since 0912 build had major problems (I backed out using that version), I took a look at RadControls for Silverlight Q2 2012 SP2 ... the binaries are exactly the same as 0912???  Apparently there is a "newer" version somewhere that fixes the problems in 0912 build ... but who knows where or how to get it?

Come on Telerik, this is just stupid silly ... there is NO place on your web site (after I log in) that clearly identifies "Updates" and then lists the versions for download.  Your web site is falling all over itself trying to be "pretty" but fails in the most basic of functionality ... providing easy access to downloads of your latest builds!

I know you folks keep saying a "re-write" of your web site is coming soon, but it's been a few years now and I see no evidence of improvement.

I also renewed for another Year as I was told by a Telerik rep that there will be at least 2 new "official" releases along with any hot-fixes, now I'm told that Q2 2012 SP2 is final, no more releases??  If you really think HTML5 is going to be "it" and betting the bank on Windows 8 (hence diversion of your resources), your company is going to be in a WORLD of hurt.  Windows 8 is going to flop worse than Vista (I've been doing this for 30+ years I have a pretty good understanding of when people will and will not upgrade their OS) and just ask Mark Zuckerberg about HTML5 ... his comments were "tone down" considerably for public consumption - I know some of the developers that had to work with HTML5, it was a nightmare and forced significant compromises to the original scope/specification.

For those not aware: Mark Zuckerberg: Stock Price 'Disappointing,' Biggest Mistake Was HTML5 Mobile Focus

Telerik, please, for your own good, keep your resources diversified and get this web site easy to use.

Sorry for the harsh tone.

Rob.

Hi Rob,

I'm sure that this is some kind of misunderstanding!

Q2 2012 SP2 is final, no more releases!?! Are you referring our Silverlight components? If this is the case I can assure you that this is definitely not true. We are about to release our Q3 2012 (most probably today or tomorrow) and we added even more components and features. Our Pivot is now Beta with OLAP support and the Diagrams and GanttView are official. We have even more big components still in the works and we will announce them before the end of the year.

You can check also this screencast for more info on how you can download our latest binaries.

Kind regards,
Vlad

I've never had a problem finding the updates, however I must say the need for an installer is annoying, As our developers work with TFS they have no need for a complete installation. All we need are the DLL's so we can update our project references.
  1. No need for installer application.
  2. No need for samples.
  3. No need for local installation of any kind.

Could the installer at least have an option to download files only? And even better download binaries only?
