Hello Eric,

Yes, we are offering an offline installer which should suit the needs of an environment with connectivity limitations. You can find it on our web site, under Your Account -> Products & Subscriptions -> Free Products -> Telerik Data Access -> Download button. On the page that opens you can locate the Automatic Installation link, which will download the offline installer for Telerik Data Access.

Regarding accessing older versions, unfortunately that is available to DevCraft license holders only, and only the latest official release of the product can be downloaded for free. In case you are a licensed developer, let us know the details of your account through a sales or product feedback item (which are private communication) and we will provide you with the download links. Otherwise, you can consider purchasing a DevCraft license, which will secure your projects with 24h support service and a wide variety of useful components for your projects, described here.

The link to download the .msi package becomes available once you have fully downloaded Telerik Data Access via the web installer. For this reason you may be unable to access the link in question. Therefore we will provide you with the .msi package for the latest version of Telerik Data Access (Q2 2014 SP2) via our FTP server. Please use an FTP client with the following credentials in order to access the package:

URL: ftpeu.telerik.com or IP address: 82.103.64.22
Username: SteveKunstman
Password: Lp#$5w4z3]H

It is recommended to set the Transfer Mode of your FTP client to Active. Please keep in mind that the user account for our FTP server will be valid only for the next 15 days.

We have uploaded the latest release of Telerik Data Access to our FTP server. For your convenience we have also included the installer of the Samples Kit and API Reference in case you need them. You can use the following credentials to access the files via FTP client:

We recommend setting the Transfer Mode of your FTP client to Active. Keep in mind that the account will be valid for 15 days.

The credentials you post in your message do not provide access to the .MSI installer. You need to use the following:

I inherited a project as a contractor and cannot execute this code as I get an error on build:

Warning 2 Cannot find custom tool 'MetaModelCodeGenerator' on this system. C:\.......rlinq eSOPH.Domain

Its only a warning, but I get a runtime of:{"Cannot find resource EntityDiagrams.rlinq embedded in assembly [MyProject].Domain, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null"}

So either need a fix, or I need to ditch Telerik and get one that works. I tried to d/l the legacy msi, but the download doesn't start and the link for direct download is a 404. Now what.

Hi Karez,

The download link is enabled for your account at this point. The version of Data Access you will download through the link is one that is already a year old, and it uses a deprecated mapping approach - XML mapping with Visual Designer. Therefore, I would like to recommend you, the Data Access NuGet packages (the getting started tutorial is here), combined with the database - first code generation tool.

Hello,

@Lee - you should be able to download Telerik Data Access Q1 2015 now.

@Matthew - We are developing multiple internal applications and products based on Telerik Data Access and Microsoft .Net so any breaking changes will be as much of an issue to our development as to yours. In near and medium-term future I do not see any risks with compatibility.
If you are afraid that Microsoft will ditch .Net Framework in favor of .Net Core - such move has really big implications and I cannot tell you if Telerik Data Access will be migrated to .Net Core or not.

Hello Matthew,

Let me confirm that products like Progress Sitefinity rely on Data Access and that any breaking changes in the .NET Framework will be a development issue for it. Therefore, if such changes arose, we would make the necessary fixes in the Fluent API and the the runtime. The fixes and the improvements that we make will be delivered through new versions of Data Access (e.g. Data Access Q2 2016 will contain support for SQL Server 2016).

From the perspective of Data Access Q1 2015, our official release practice includes patches only in exceptional situations as the one related to the hotfix mentioned here. In other words, it should be treated as any previous version of Data Access - if there's an issue in it (related to the runtime and the Fluent API), it could be addressed in a higher version.

I hope this clarifies the situation.
