hi!

do you plan to fully support the Material Design "features"?

I really like the textbox effect where the placeholder transitions into the label when you enter some text.. it seems that this feature isn't included in Kendo UI.

There are many more things that do not look like the "original Material Design".

Thank you!

Hi agree totally with Steffen, Material Design theme support is very bad on KendoUI.

No floating label, tab panel are very very worse, etc ...

Hello,

We are continuously working on improving our existing themes. The Material Design Guidelines has been updated recently (see the What's new section) and we will consider Material theme update in our future releases to match the Data Tables' styling and other UI differences.

Regarding floating labels as well as any other interactive behavior ( e.g. animations and transitions) we are still on the research stage of how and if possible at all to implement these without affecting the default behavior of Kendo UI widgets with other themes (different to Material Theme). In other words, this interactivity cannot be handled by the CSS theme files only and require additional JS code and changes in the way widgets are rendered. This will affect the behavior of the whole Kendo UI framework and as such we might not be able to build-in these features. Yet we might consider providing external solution, if these are widely requested.

Hello Vasil,

As it has been a year since the last update on this, I am curious to hear if the situation has changed in regards to the support for floating label in Kendo UI. I fully get your point about not being able to support this via CSS alone but for any web app involving a fair bit of forms, the Textbox control is one of the most important one. And floating label really look great:

Hi there,

Indeed, the floating labels would be a very nice UX addition to the Material Theme of Kendo UI and even UI for ASP.NET AJAX. The implementation is logged in our backlog, but since the improvement is huge and time consuming, it is still not clear when we will start working on it, because there are other features with higher priority.

You can help to raise its status by submitting your votes in this related feedback item.

I also request this feature, it is very difficult to integrate kendo into any real material design theme as it seems to be nowhere near the actual material design spec.

Hi Make,

Your vote and feedback are greatly appreciated!

I advice everyone who likes the floating label feature to submit his/her vote in the UserVoice portal.

Best regards,
Rumen
