Hello.  We've been using RadEditor Lite on our WSS 3.0 site for 2 years now.  It's been working great so far.  We're on the latest version (4.5.6).

Few days ago, we noticed that in FireFox 6, editing rich-text fields (and Wiki pages) in SharePoint does not fire up RadEditor any more.  The rich-text content is only editable in HTML code, same as would be the case if RadEditor Lite were not installed at all.  The same rich-text content works fine in Chrome, Safari, and IE, but not on FireFox 6.  Strangely, it works fine in FireFox 5 and lower versions, which but not FireFox 6.

Seeing how rapidly FireFox gets updated nowadays, maybe the problem will go away with the next FF update... But I thought I'd mention this here anyways, and see if there is POSSIBLY a quick fix of any kind.

Thanks!

Hello Marko,

The Lite version or RadEditor for MOSS 4.x is based on the classic version of RadEditor 7.x. Unfortunately there is a known issue with it and FireFox 6, check the following forum post: RadEditor for ASP.NET does not work properly in Firefox 6

Regarding the classic version of RadEditor we stopped supporting this product a couple of years ago. Currently we do not plan to implement any enhancements or bug fixes in it. What I suggest you to do is upgrade to the ASP.NET AJAX version of RadEditor for MOSS 5.x. You can find the upgrade article in the following online help article: Upgrade Instructions from version 4.x to version 5.x

Thanks.  Is RadEditor AJAX for MOSS 5.x a free product, like the RadEditor Lite?  How do you get it?  Is it only through the Sharepoint Acceleration Kit?

Hello Marko,

No, RadEditor for MOSS 5.x is not a free product. It comes with the RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX tools. I created a sample video where you can see how to download the free fully functional trial version: http://screencast.com/t/VZgaHa4Y3

Thanks.  To purchase the RadEditor for MOSS, I'd have to purchase the whole package (RadControls for ASP.NET Ajax), correct?

Hi Marko,

Yes, correct. You have to purchase the hole RadControls for ASP.NET Ajax package.

$ 799 !!
a bit expensive for people who only need a RAD editor to replace the ugly moss 2007 one.
In my case, I would buy the upgrade until ~ $100 but certainly not at $ 799
The only solution for me is to ask FF users to install IETab extension instead :((
It's a shame

Hi Eddie,

Thank you for the feedback!

Unfortunately, we cannot offer you our ASP.NET AJAX suite at the requested price of $100.

Regarding the RadEditor, there are a few reasons why we don't offer it separately. Please note that all the ASP.NET AJAX controls are part of the same framework, which significantly facilitates the deployment and upgrade of the controls. Additionally to allow better functionality as some components are incorporated in others, which is made possible by the common framework the controls share. For example RadEditor uses RadWindow to display dialog boxes and RadUpload for file upload. However, all these benefits come at a cost - the controls can be offered only as a suite and individual controls, are not offered as standalone products.

I hope this clears things up. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Greetings,
