Filter table before grouping

I've applied both grouping and a filtering rule to my table. If one of the elements in a group is rejected by the filter, the entire group is rejected. It appears as if Report Designer filters out every entry in a group if any entry doesn't meet the filtering criteria.

Has anyone run into this problem before? Is there any way to filter data before grouping it?

Hello Saba,

Instead of filtering the data rows you need to add filters to the table groups inside the Group Explorer window. This will filter the groups instead of the data.

Thanks, that did the trick, but now I still see a group header even after the group members have been filtered out. Any ideas?

Hello Saba,

Depending on your table layout you can again use filtering, or use conditional formatting to set the visibility of the group header.
Without any knowledge of the table we will be unable to give you specific suggestions.
