Would it be possible to create a dropdown which has an alphabet jump list to one side? This could be used to jump to a certain letter in a sorted list, as per the list on an Android phone for contacts or the Windows Phone 8 list for apps.  With a selectable letter as a shortcut to words beginning with that letter it would make the interface fairly slick with not that much effort.

Currently such functionality is not supported in any of the Kendo UI widgets. There is a uservoice topic for such control that you can vote up on the following link:
