The new architecture of the dock control is completely different from the CTP, but the documentation is very poor, not what I am used to from you guys.
How do you use the UserDockControl, and how is the docking manager supposed to work at design time.

Hello Manley,
I'm very sorry for the problems you've had migrating from the CTP build to the official build. You're right that we changed the architecture but we had to provide much more usable design-time when it comes to configuring DockPanels in design-mode. Now you don't need to make user controls in order to design DockPanels and place controls in them. You just configure your docking panels from the "Advanced Layout Designer" (as shown on these two screenshots: 1, 2) and then place controls inside the dock panels by drag & drop.
The official build from Thursday last week had a problem with persisting the changes done in design-time and that's why today we uploaded a new fixed build in which we have fixed all reported problems related to persistence.
We don't plan any new major changes neither in the docking control nor in the telerik WinForms architecture. We plan to update the documentation for SP1 to reflect the changes we've made during the last two weeks and which we have left either undocumented or documented poorly.

Chris,

I apologize if I misunderstand your post, but is there a hotfix for the Windows Dock control?

I am experiencing a similar issue with the "Advanced Layout Designer" not saving changes.  Also when something is in the Dock Manager the smart tag arrow will not come up making it impossible to edit the windows once they are created.

Hi Terance,
The distribution on our website is updated with latest bits. If you're experiencing any problems with the docking design-time I recommend you download and install the latest build. We have not changed the version number so the assemblies might appear to be the same. Please, excuse us if this is causing any confusion. We will announce an official Service Pack release next week which will include other fixes and improved design-time support (drag & drop and resizing) as well. Please, check on our website or subscribe for our RSS feed (http://www.telerik.com/support.rss) to receive notifications for new updates.

Best wishes,
Chris

Chris,

Thanks for the response you are correct I couldnt tell if there was a new version up or not :).

Is it reccommended to uninstall and reinstall the latest version or installing over the current version (I believe doing a repair) is the way to go?

Terance,

It would be best to uninstall the controls first, so that GAC is cleared. We will also suggest closing VS2005 during the uninstall/install process.
