When I answer "Yes" to the question "Do you want to add a Domain Model?", nothing happens and I'm not able to work with OpenAccess at this point.

I'm using Visual Studio Team System 2008, .Net 3.5 Framework, SQL Server 2005 on a new Windows 7 machine. I'm running Visual Studio as a Windows Administrator in order to access OpenAccess from the Visual Studio / Telerik menu.

I have no problem using the ASP.NET AJAX and WPF components.

Please advise.

Thanks

Hello RJ,

This is just a failsafe mechanism of Telerik OpenAccess ORM. It is there to prevent you from enabling a project that you want to add the Domain Model to. This is due to the fact that the Domain Model Designer cannot work in an enabled project.

What you need to do to add the visual designer is right click on the project, choose Add New Item, find the Telerik OpenAccess Domain Model template and add it to the project.

Hope this helps.

Serge

I am having the same problem. Just downloaded version on 4/30/2010. I'm running VS 2010, Windows 7 64 Enterprise. Your answer to the previous post "Telerik OpenAccess Domain Model " is what the dialog box suggests I do. But this option is nowhere to be found. So, I am unable to use ORM. Any other suggestions?

Hi pucsoftware,

As of this point there is no support for the Telerik OpenAccess Domain Model in Visual Studio 2010. However this is our top priority and we are currently working on this and will be included in our first service pack.

I will keep you posted on this in this thread, but for the time being you can try using the designer in VS2008.

Sincerely yours,
Serge

Oops. I didn't realize that VS2010 was not yet supported. Sorry about that. If you can let me know when 2010 is supported that would be great.

I've updated my VS2010 with the new Service Pack (Telerik OpenAccess ORM 2010.1 527), but I still can't add Domain Model to any project. Is it my fault?

Hello janusz,

Unfortunately there was an issue with the installer and sometimes the installation is corrupt, that is why you do not see the template. What you need to do is make a clean install and by that I mean first uninstall Telerik OpenAccess ORM from your system, then open up the GAC (C:\Windows\assembly) and remove any remaining assemblies that start with Telerik.OpenAccess and the Telerik.Data.Dsl, Telerik.Data.DslPackage, Telerik.Data.VsFileGenerator  and  the Telerik.VS.Data.Design assemblies. What is left is to install the latest version and your issue should be fixed.

I hope this helps.

All the best,
Serge

Thanks for advice, but the problem was that I installed ORM at non-default path. When I let to install ORM at prompted directory everything worked fine.

Hello janusz,

I am glad you have found a solution for your issue, it turns out however that what you have found out seems to be an issue with the installer. We are currently looking into that and it will be resolved in the next version of OpenAccess.

Your input is highly appreciated, please find your Telerik points updated.

Installing OpenAccess ORM in a different directory, is not working. I had to install in the default directory. The error that i get is:

error 1001. Could not find a part of the path
'E:\Desenvolvimento\Telerik\OpenAccess ORM\Data Services Wizard\IDEIntegrations\Wizard\addin09Template.txt'.

Hello Hugo Augusto,

This behavior is in fact fixed in the latest service pack, this being the second one this quarter. You can download it from your account page. Please note that the Service pack 2 contains a lot of fixes and enhancements, you can read about them on this page.

Have a great day,
Serge
