Is it possible to change the Feature Scope level to WebApplication or Farm, rather than Site or Web? I have been unable to do so and am wondering if this is a limitation with deploying the RadEditor. Thanks.

Hi,

Yes, it is possible to change the features scope. See the following article for more details - http://www.telerik.com/help/radeditormoss/Change_the_RadEditor_features_scope.html

I had seen this particular FAQ previously and it is how I tried changing the scope to Farm and WebApplication, but I could never get it to work.

Hi,

I apologize for the confusion. It is not possible to use the Farm and WebApplication scopes for the RadEditor features yet. I see that there is a request for this functionality already in our database and that it will be added in the next major RadEditor for MOSS update. The update is scheduled for the second half of April.

Hi,

May I ask when is the specific date that you will be releasing the update? We are preparing for a release as well (last week of April) and we are thinking if we will bw able to incorporate the fix in the release.

Also, if ever the RadEditor could finally use the WebApplication as scope, will it be applied to the already existing subsites within that web application? Or would there be additional steps that we need to do to apply the control to those existing sites?

Thanks!

Francis

Hi Guys,

May I follow-up on this one? We just need to know when you can have it released so our team can plan on when would be the best time to apply the control to our site.

Thanks,

Hi,

Thank you for this reply. May I ask if in this version, we can apply the control to the whole application by, maybe, setting the value of the scope as "WebApplication"? Can this version cater this requirement? If ever this is possible and we try to apply it, will this control be also applied to already existing sites or just the sites created after the implementation of the new version?

Thank you so much!

Regards,
Francis

Hi Francis,

Yes, in RadEditor for MOSS 4.5.3 you can change the editor's Feature scope, so that to be activated from the WebApplication features.

Please, review the following help article that explains how to achieve this:
http://www.telerik.com/help/radeditormoss/?Change_the_RadEditor_features_scope.html

Note that the Scope have to be set to "WebApplication".

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,
