I have a in house project / time / resource management application. Part of the application was coded in Silverlight and it utilizes a third party gantt control. Since Chrome is dropping support for NPAPI plugins (java / silverlight) we really want to dump Silverlight and re-code this part of our application. However, we have functionality in the current Gantt control that doesn't seem to exist in the Telerik gantt control.Specifically the ability found in Microsoft Project where you add lead time to a dependent task and the ability to zoom in and out the view on the right hand side of the gantt control.

Telerik's gantt control has a desired schema behind it and unfortunately the current third party control we are using differs pretty dramatically. We have customized the gantt data provider to get most of the data showing up.

What I'm asking for here is:

Is there some way I can add functionality to the Telerik Gantt control that will allow me to add lead time to a depedent task. I suppose the ability to change a dependent tasks start date would also give me the functionality I require.

Is there some way I can handle the zooming in of the right hand side of the control. Effectively changing the number of days displayed in that view. So if my total project plan covers 1 year and by default i'm viewing 4 months could i change it so the right hand side displays .. say 2 months of data or one?

Hopefully this all makes sense. I hope the screen shot is helpful.

Thanks,

julian

Hello,

RadGantt control does not support Lead and Lag time of the dependencies out of the box. If  a dependency have to be changed on some event or update it has to be changed programmatically.

Unfortunately the Zoom in/out functionality is not supported too with the current version of the control. You can log the issue as a feature request in our feedback portal here.

Thanks I will consider logging it but honestly we'll probably have a coded custom solution so I don't know. It seems Webforms are definitely on the way out and certainly not a priority as far as adding features for Telerik. Not with the UI for Universal Apps, and Kendo, and WPF, etc.....

Hello Julian,

I am afraid but I have to disagree with your opinion about the prioritization and the development of the WebForms as a bundle of products. Only for the current year, we have released numerous new controls such as RadGantt, RadSpreadsheet, RadClientExportManager, RadNavigation and so on. In addition, we are constantly improving the controls behavior not only regarding the newly released version of browsers and bug fixing, but also regarding their mobile behavior.

Furthermore, we've made a huge effort on fixing the bugs with our product, which are now decreased by 50%. We are also constantly implementing new features and we are using our public portal for  prioritization of those requests.

With that said, I would encourage you to log the referenced feature request as my colleague suggested, in order to have it considered and prioritized.

Hope this information helps.

Well that is good to hear I suppose. I, not being a corporation, will be moving out of webforms. Nothing in this post was a bug just validation of functionality that is not there. Thanks for the response!

 Have a good day.
