All,

I appologize if this is in the wrong forum...please direct me to the correct one if it is.
I have inherited a project from a former co-worker and am receiving the following error when I attempt to run the project:

Could not load file or assembly 'Telerik.WinControls.UI, Version=8.2.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=<REMOVED for privacy> ' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Michael,

The error means that the Telerik.WinControls.UI assembly referenced by the project is not installed on your computer. Could it be that your colleague used the Telerik.WinControls suite and you don't have them installed?

Kind regards,

Here is what I have loaded....is there something that I am missing?  I.E. I don't know what product line that Telerik.WinControls.UI is actually a part of.

RadControls_for_ASP.NET_AJAX_2008_3_1314_dev.exe
RadControls_for_ASP.NET_AJAX_2008_3_1314_dev_hotfix.zip (Unzipped and copied "on top" of install dir)
RadControls_for_Silverlight_2008_3_1217_DEV.msi
RadControls_for_WPF_2008_3_1217_DEV.msi
Telerik_OpenAccess_ORM_2008_3_1327_dev.zip
Telerik_Reporting_2008_3_1402_dev.msi

Again, thank you in advance

Hi Michael,

The Telerik.WinControls.UI assembly is part of the Telerik RadControls for WinForms suite. Does the project you've inherited some Windows Forms interface hance it utilizes the Telerik.WinControls.UI assembly?

Kind regards,

Hello!

If I understand this correctly... the clients that want to use the application developed with Telerik win forms components are forced to have Telerik RadControls for WinForms installed on their computers???
This doesn't sound really good to me.

For example I've used Telerik WPF RadControls and this problem never occurred.... My applications would run on any client.

Is there any work around?

Hi Roxana,

Your clients do not have to install RadControls for WinForms on their computers. Our WinForms controls should work flawlessly with whatever deployment you have set up for your WPF apps, so far as those are not WPF browser applications /compiled XBAP files/.

The issue in Michael's case was most probably related to the fact the developer did not have RadControls for WinForms installed on his machine.

All the best,
