Hello,
Before downloading of OpenAccess free version I carefully read the license agreement. And I understood that I could use the Express edition in my commerce programs. But when I tried to run the downloaded version I was shown absolutely another license agreement where it was said that I could use this product only for testing purposes. So what is the truth?
Thanks

Hi JK,

Telerik OpenAccess ORM provides three kind of licenses:

  • Trial: for evaluation purposes
  • Express: for free usage with free databases, see details here
  • Developer: commercial license with support for all databases

Please be more specific where you read different terms by sending an email to sales@telerik.com.

Concerning your use of the Express version you can basically build commercial applications, but they may only run with free databases as we support them.

If you want to use a commercial database you would need a developer license.

Hope this clarifies our licensing.

Best wishes,

Thank you for the answer.
I know the difference between versions. I have registered and download the Express version here: http://www.telerik.com/downloads/productfiles/hgkg/Telerik_OpenAccess_ORM_Express_2009_2_701.zip Before I could download this zip I had to read the license agreement and if was about free version that could be used in the commercial projects.
If you try to run the executable exe or msi inside the zip you will see the text of agreement where the words about trial version are instead commercial using. Yes, I develop the commercial applications using free database, is it strange for you? Not for me. Please, look at the text of license in this zip and you will see the difference.
Thanks

Hello JK,

The license terms for the Trial do not apply to the Express version, so as mentioned before, you can use the Express version with free databases. This is supported technically, since the Express version will not run with commercial databases.

So you should be fine.

And Yes, we support building commercial applications with free databases.

Sincerely yours,
