HI All

We use your dev edition a lot for auto testing. It works well but one thing which we REALLY need is an HTML/text compare viewer built in to compare expected vs actual results, a bit like http://www.htmlmatch.com/hmpeek.htm. We often verify blocks of html but when there is a difference it is often very time consuming (and painful) to see why the verification is failing. The current info provided is very basic.

I raised this over 12 months ago. Anymore news?

thanks

Hello Dave,
the support engineer that logged this for you is no longer with us. I tried to find the Feature Request he created in order to determine what has happened to it. But I couldn't find it - it's buried somewhere in your issue tracking system.
Are you aware of the image comparison feature? I think it might be the result of your Feature Request. It works like this: You execute a test with Quick Execution. If a step fails, you can compare how the page looked when you recorded the test and how it looked at the time of execution (see screenshot 1). This is pretty similar to what you're describing but it's images instead of html code.

Check out the feature, if you feel it doesn't cover your needs, then I can log a new Feature Request on your behalf.

Hope to hear from you soon!

All the best,
Stoich

Hi

We have checked out the screenshot feature. Unfortunately this does not help us. Although it gives us a screenshot it does not show where the differences are in the HTML block being compared. Hence please log a feature request that will provide an HTML 'side by side' comparison view that clearly highlights the differences between the expected results and the actual results.

When do you think this enhancement is likely to be implemented ?

Thanks

Hi Matthew Roberts,

First I'd like to clarify one thing. Stoich was referring to our Image Verification feature, not just capturing a screenshot. However I will it admit this type of verification only tells you how far off the image was by a percentage figure. It doesn't do a side-by-side comparison highlighting the difference in that comparison.

I have logged PITS feature request 5218 to track your request. We are not able to give you an ETA at this time. We can only say it will be evaluated by our product manager and prioritized along with our other feature requests.

Hello Matthew Roberts,

I am sorry we have not been able to implement this yet. We've all been very busy putting together our R1 release of Test Studio. it is being released to the public next week. Also I am sorry I did not give you the right public link to PITS 5218 in my last post to you. The correct public link is here.

Greetings,
Cody
