Hi,

It seems that the EnableEmbeddedSkins property doesn't work, I have set it to false, defined the skin property as "Office2007" (a skin which I copied from the installation folder and modified) and added the css file to the head tag. But nothing changes. What can I do about this?

Furthermore, I think the current combobox documentation is not good at this moment, quite some errors, it seems to be released without it being ready:
1. No information about the namespace changes when migrating (like the grid documentation)
2. An empty "What's new" page
3. The item "Overview of Telerik RadComboBox structure and appearance" is outdated (e.g. the combobox apearance stuff)
4. Screen boundaries detection information is minimal, doesn't look professional
5. Overlay information is minimal, an example would be nice in the documentation itself
6. Animation documentation is empty

Overall, I think the documentation is currently quite minimal, I hope it improves. Some other minor problems:
- When using keys to select items in the combobox, the first time you hit the down button, it doesn't select the next item. After that it does
- It's still not possible to select multiple items (e.g. with checkboxes), which I hoped was to be included finally in this release
- I thought that because of the semantic rendering mechanism it was not needed to define dropdownwidth anymore, but I don't see anything about this in documentation? How does it work?

Well, this turned out to be a longer post than I planned :-) I hope this information helps, as the combobox needs some work still.

Kind regards,

Martin de Ruiter

Hi Martin,

I was able to get a custom skin working in my project.  Did your custom Office2007 skin come from the classic version or did it come from the Prometheus version.  My suggestion would be that you start with the Prometheus skin since the css rules / names are very different from the classic version.

Agreed the documentation is a little scarce; I'm sure they're working on it and will be constantly improving it throughout the next few weeks.

Shaun.

Hi  Martin,

Thanks for your feedback!

We agree that the documentation is not complete and need to be improvement. We work on it and the help topics will be updated.

Also about the multiselection feature of RadComboBox, this feature appeared to be more difficult to be implemented than we thought so we defered it.

About the custom skin problem - please, open a support ticket and send us a simple running project illustrating the problem which we ca test locally (including the custom skin).

Hi Shaun and Rosi,

Indeed, I used the classic css version, so that was the problem. I changed it, and now it works. However quite strange that it showed the embedded version while I had the old version? Anyway, thanks for the help.

Btw, I'm glad the documentation is currently being improved :-)

Kind regards,

You mentioned before about a Prometheus version of the skin, where do I get this version? It doesn't seem to be in the Prometheus directory in Program Files.

Thanks

Hello Emmet,

The skins of Prometheus controls are built-in.

To learn more on how you can use it, please refer to the controls' documentation under section RadControls 'Prometheus' Fundamentals --> Controlling Visual Appearance .

Also, you can find the skins under Skins folder which is placed in the folder where you have installed the suite. With default installation the path to the skins would be:
C:\Program Files\Telerik\RadControls 'Prometheus' for ASPNET Q1 2008\Skins

Hope this helps.
