I am able to show or hide the Kendo Gird columns based on the user preference which i stored in the Sql server using ASP.net MVC 4. However i want to update the user preference based on their selection. Is it possible to update the user preference in the code behind

Hello Sankarkanna,
The column menu is automatically updated based on the columns shown in the grid, as shown in this screencast:

The column menu shows the Kendo UI Grid columns defined with the column configuration property, and if a column was not defined in this configuration it will not show in the column menu as well.
If this is not what you are looking for, please elaborate a bit more, so we can better understand your scenario.
