I've noticed that when one uses Opera 9.27 and clicks the Editor's body in a new message, the cursor does not show up.  It only shows up when one clicks on the first line in the editor. Clicking anywhere in the editor body does not show the cursor and makes it appear that the editor is read-only.

How can I make it so an Opera user can click anywhere in the Editor's body for a new message (other than the first line) and have the cursor show up?

Note this is not an issue with IE 7.x or Firefox 2.x.

Hi Carl,

The problem is due to the Rich Text Editing engine of Opera, which does not set the cursor when the content area is empty. To set the focus in editor, you should click in the top left corner of the content area as it is shown in the attached video. Since this a browser behavior we cannot override it.

To verify that this is a browser behavior, you can test any other DHTML editors.

I know this is an old Post. But i wanted to express my concern as I am experiencing this issue on an Android device using Chrome. I have checked with other DHTML editors and have not experienced this behavior. Can you tell me if there is an option that I need to enable?

Thanks

Hi Jay,

When it comes to mobile devices the matter is not the same. The problem with Opera and Chrome is due to a native behavior of the click events of the iframe.

I tested with our dedicated for mobile devices demos (you can scan the QR in the Overview demo to navigate there) and was unable to find any difficulties on focusing the content area.

Could you please open a proper support ticket with more details about your concerns, the encountered problems, so that we could properly understand the situation and assist you further?

Regards,
Ianko
