Is there a correct implementation to use this functionality between pivot grid and chart view.
Looking at it from an external perspective drilling down into a bar would effectively apply 1 or more filters to the data that correspond the bar selected.

Could you please elaborate in details your scenario and what you are trying to accomplish? RadPivotGrid supports direct integration with RadChartView. The chart`s data source is synced with the currently selected pivot cells. In this respect, I am not sure what would the desired behavior be according to your scenario.
Of course, you can have a separate RadChartView with a DrillDownController. Then you can handle its Drill event and apply any custom filtering to the pivot.
