Hi! We are using Icenium, Kendo Mobile and Phone Gap Cordova (File generated at :: Wed Oct 31 2012 14:34:26 GMT-0700 (PDT)). We are targeting iPhone 4-5 and are using ION on those devices to test the App.

We want to have a splash screen and I have uploaded three images in the properties settings in the project, in the defined pixel dimensions. Iam also using Cordovas: navigator.splashscreen.show(); when the device is ready, all accordning to their documentation. The problem is we are only getting the default splash screen with Icenium logo.

Will this be resolved when the App is built (as it is with forcing orientation), or Iam I missing something? The images is regular .png and have the right pixel dimensions. Thanks

Hello Henrik,

Splash screens and icons, just like orientations, are part of the final app package and can't be tested with Ion. You will need to build your app and deploy it on a device to test.

Hi,

I am looking for more information about Splash Screen support in Telerik. From what I gather, I understand that Kendo only supports a default splash screen delay, which cannot be set using the configuration. I was able to upload the splash screens for the different sizes using the interface.

Now I would like to check out the splash screen functionality using the App Builder Simulator, or the AppBuilder app on my iPhone. However, for some reason, the splash screen is never shown.

Do I understand it correctly from the above discussion that App Builder does not show any splash screen until I have built and deployed the final app to the App Store or Device?

Thanks!

Hello Stephane,

We are not aware of issues with displaying a splashscreen running the latest version of AppBuilder. The image is also expected to be displayed in most of the simulators. For detailed reference on the core plugins that the device simulator supports across the AppBuilder clients, you can check the table provided in the documentation. The Splashscreen plugin in particular should be supported on the Simulators available with the Windows Client and the VS Extension, while not on the one coming with the In-Browser client.

In case there is still an issue, another reason for not showing the screen would be because the Splashscreen plugin is disabled. You can check this as explained in the Enable and Disable the Core Plugins topic. Would you also confirm you have uploaded an appropriate image in the Assets project properties as it is explained in the documentation on how to generate icon splashscreen?

For further basic information on using SplashScreen, you can refer to the detailed explanation in the forum thread on: Can someone give me a summary of how splash screens "happen" in Appbuilder?
