Hi,

I'm unable to create a new test in Visual Studio 2010 - the documentation here: http://docs.telerik.com/teststudio/user-guide/create-a-test-vs-plugin/web-test.aspx says that I should select open visual studio and select Telerik > Test Studio > Create New Test Project then select either Visual Basic Test Studio Project or Visual C# Test Studio Project but I cannot see either of these options (I'm not shown any options under the Telerik menu in the installed templates menu). Please could you advise how I can create tests in Visual Studio?

Thanks,

Mike

Hello Michael,

Thank you for contacting us.

You should install Visual Studio first and then Test Studio. Only in that way we can install our templates and plugin into VS.

Also note that you should run VS as administrator.

Hope this helps.

Hi Boyan,

I did indeed install Telerik after Visual Studio and was able to see the Telerik template group in my list of installed templates, but neither Visual Basic Test Studio Project or Visual C# Test Studio Project were shown as types of project to select. I have now installed the most recent Test Studio update (bringing me up to version 2013.2.1327.0) and I am no longer shown the Telerik option at all in VS.

Hello Mike,

Please run the installer again and make sure you have enabled Visual Studio plugin and samples.

See the attached screen shot.

Hope that helps.

Hi Boyan,

I am not given those options when I run the installer found here: https://www.telerik.com/download-trial-file?pid=TESTSTUDIOULTIMATE&lict=1

Is this because I am on a trial license?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Michael,

No, it just looks different. Trial version installs all of the components of Test Studio.

Please download the whole MSI file from here and give it a try.

Make sure you run it as administrator.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Boyan,

I have reinstalled Test Studio using the MSI you linked to and still no joy I'm afraid. Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Michael,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue.

If Test Studio product is currently installed I would suggest executing the following .vsix files in order to deploy the Test Studio Project Templates in your Visual Studio.

1.     [Test Studio Installation Path]\Test Studio\VSExtensions\Framework\VS2012. The file I recommend to execute is named as it follows: Telerik.TestingFramework.VSIX.vsix

2.     [Test Studio Installation Path]\Test Studio\VSExtensions\TestStudio\VS2012. Here the file is named as it follows: Telerik.TestStudio.VS2012Templates.vsix.

Please note that executing these files might return a message that the package is already installed.

In case you get message that the package is already installed and there are still no Project Templates in your Visual Studio when executing the .vsix files I would suggest performing the following steps:

1.     Open the Extensions and Updates manager from the Tools menu of your Visual Studio

2.     Select All sub tab in the Installed tab

3.     Select Telerik.TestStudio.VS2012Templates and click on the Uninstall button

4.     Select Telerik.TestingFramework and click on the Uninstall button

5.     Restart your Visual Studio (mandatory)

6.     Execute the .vsix files mentioned in the beginning of this message

If none of these suggestions resolve your problem, please create an installer Log File and attach it to the support ticket.

Please let me know if the issue still exists.
