I am sorry you are running into this problem. I have just one other customer in which this is happening consistently. The work around you have referenced was supposed to fix it permanently, but I am guessing it works only as long as your project is opened? Once you close the project it breaks again?
So far we have been unable to reproduce this problem. All of our development and test machines are able to reopen tests from test projects without any problems. I'd like to get a more clear handle on your environment. Can you clarify for me the following:
- Your version of Windows
- Your version of Visual Studio
- Which .NET frameworks are installed (see attached screenshot for an example)
- Are you running in Trial mode or have you activated a purchased license
