My website is storing images in the database rather than the file system. While doing research on CDNs I was getting confused if CDN can be used for the website if media assets are getting stored in the database. Can someone please shed some light on this? I am using Microsoft Azure for the hosting.

Thanks,

Davinder

Hello Davinder,

Thanks for posting to the Telerik Developer Forums.

In brief, a Content Delivery Network is a service that distributes assets from specified web services over a network of servers around the world. In theory, if you can expose the content in a supported format to the CDN from your database, the CDN should be able to distribute it over the CDN edges.

In Telerik Platform you can use a CDN for the integrated Files installment out of the box.

Because your current inquiry doesn't seem associated with any products or services offered by Telerik, a Progress company, and we are not familiar with your setup and the available options from CDN providers, it may be more beneficial for your current development tasks to also address this inquiry to the community forums or to the contact channels of the CDN vendors.

Thanks for your reply Anton. The product is Sitefinity and the website in question is www.indianweddingsite.com. I find the website slower than the speed I would like it to be. I did setup CDN at Azure but don't find a way to configure it in Sitefinity. Is there a step-by-step guide for it?

I followed all the instructions and changed the storage for big banner images only on the home page http://www.indianweddingsite.com/ but the images are still coming from the server itself http://www.indianweddingsite.com/sf-images/default-source/Home-Banner/main-banner.jpg?Status=Temp&sfvrsn=2.
