Hi,

I have followed through the tutorial at
http://docs.icenium.com/working-with-devices/apple-ios-devices/how-to-build-your-app-for-appstore
to publish for Ad Hoc provisioning but can't get it to work.

I followed through everything, installed the certificate, provisioning profile, etc but can't get the Publish step to work - have tried twice.

I created an App ID e.g.  for Description had "MyTestApp1" and Bundle Id "com.ourco.myapp"
In the iOS Provisioning Portal it says it will automatically put a Bundle Seed Id of say "PAGT55ST56"

In the Provision List in Graphite it shows "com.ourco.myapp" as the App Identifier in the list, but when expand the list row it shows Application ID: PAGT55ST56.com.ourco.myapp   - i.e. includes the Bundle Seed Id at the start.

So under Properties for the app I set Application identifier to "com.ourco.myapp" but when I go to publish it says "You don't have a provision to match com.ourco.myapp application identifier.  (I also tried using PAGT55ST56.com.ourco.myapp but same result - which one are we supposed to use?)

What am I doing wrong?  I have followed the tutorial above through twice.
Is it in anyway related tp the name of the project as shown in Graphite? (wouldn't have thought so), because the name is not the same - i.e it isn't called myapp - e.g. is called MyAppMobileDev.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Мichael,

The problem is due to misunderstanding and partly due to missing functionality in Graphite. In general the Publish option in Graphite is meant to be used only for publishing to App Store. According to your description, you want to use Ad Hoc as distribution method i.e. you won't be publishing to the App Store.

The Publish wizard in Graphite currently supports publishing to App Store only and that is why your Ad Hoc provision is not recognized. The easiest way to resolve this is to use Mist Publish instead, which would allow you to "publish" for Ad Hoc as well and you would be able to download the .ipa file.

Based on your inquiry we see now that the differences between actual publish to App Store and "publish" for development or Ad Hoc is not outlined well and can be pretty confusing, so we're going to address those more clearly in both the Publish wizard as well as in our documentation.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for that, however we get the same problem in Mist - i.e. "You don't have a provision to match com.ourco.myapp application identifier! Please import your provision first."

We will eventually be publishing to the App Store, however initially for testing and showing the app to product managers we first need to distribute through Ad Hoc (I would imagine this would be the process required by all but single / small developers).

Please advise what else could be the problem? and how to move forward?

Thank you,

Michael

Hello Michael,

Did you use the following steps:
  1. Open app.icenium.com and log-in with your associated credentials.
  2. Click on Run menu -> select "On Device".
  3. Click on Provision.
  4. You should see your Ad Hoc provision there, click on Build.
  5. Download your .ipa file.

Let us know if you still need help.

All the best,
Steve

Hi Steve, thanks for the post, that one got me as well.

Hopefully you’ll get it sorted for the next release of Graphite as it is a bit confusing.

Cheers

Steve
