Now, it's possible we're not doing this right, but here's how we're managing bugs in TFS...

  • Someone will raise a BUG on the system.
  • The bug is assigned to a developer.
  • The developer decomposes that work in to tasks

This just doesn't seem possible in TP. Are we doing something strange/wrong?

How do you manage bugs and the work coming from them? Please don't tell me you raise a User Story for the bug.

Hi Stuart,

All you do is just right. Currently TeamPulse does not provide option for creating tasks related to a bug. The way we track it is really simple and clear - the person (initially DEV and after that QA) that works on the bug assigns to it as owner. After the bug is fixed, its state is changed from "In Development" to "Ready For Test". This way the QA is informed that the bug can be tested.
Our team has Feature request about adding functionality for tasks related to a Bug. I added one vote from your side as well.

Best wishes,

Lora,

Thanks for the update and for adding a vote to the backlog item.

Sadly this means that my colleague have added another 'no' vote to TP. :-(

Am I correct in thinking that, if tasks are created against bugs in TFS that there is no way that the tasks can be accessed in TP?

I can't seem to get to the tasks themselves through any of the tracking toolbar options.

Hello Stuart,

Yes, you are right. In the current implementation there is no way to do this. We'll probably work on improvements in this direction in some of our further releases.

hi, can you add a vote for me too.  it's a bit of a problem that substantial work related to bugs can't be tracked as tasks directly in the tool.
thanks,
steph

Hello, here is another vote. We just started using TP and we feel the need to be able to split up bugs into tasks. Because of one bug it can be that we need adjustments to the portal, the class getting the info from the back officice application and changes to the back office application itself.  I would like to be able to 'decompose bugs into work' and schedule these task as in the planning module.

Kind regards, Wim
