Hi,

when I go (for an example) to
http://www.telerik.com/community/forums/wpf/gridview.aspx
The bread crumb shows
Home/Community & Support/Developer Productivity Tools Forums/WPF>GridView
This is correct.
When I open an article here it shows
Home/Community & Support/Developer Productivity Tools Forums/WPF>GridView>Known Issues and Breaking Changes - RadGridView
Also OK - and fine so far since I can navigate easily back to the GridView section.

BUT - after a search in the WPF GridView I get:
Home/Community & Support/Developer Productivity Tools Forums/Search

I can see -- Results for yyyy in WPF : GridView

But there is no link back to the WF/GridView forum.
So if I find nothing and want to go back I have to do it all the way from start.
OK, there is "Back" -- but this is not so fine after going through several pages in search result - or doing multiple searches.

"You" know where the search started (is done fore) - could you please (if the bread crumb can't be changed) provide a linke back to where the search started?

Thank you
Manfred

Hi Venera,

I think the things became worse with the new site.
I searche http://www.telerik.com/forums/windows-phone/hubtile-for-wp7 for "listbox" - and got no result.
Landing on a page without any breadcrumb at all.

By the way - one of the top threads there is about hubtile in a listbox - so I should get a result.
Also the "suggestion of the search field" offers listbox...

Hi,

Excuse us for the late reply.

Regarding the forums search functionality - since the new website was released the pages in all forums needed a few days to be crawled and included in the search results. That resulted in the behavior you have described - no items found even for items that are present on the page.

Now all pages are indexed in the search engine and you should not hit this issue anymore. For example the scenario you described is now returning the correct results: Search results link

We apologize for the inconvenience caused!

Hi,

as the title says -- BREADCRUMB.... is the problem.

No matter how good you index your forums - if I search something not present I land at: (example)
http://www.telerik.com/search?
start=0&q=axaddad&collection=telerik30&ResourceType=Forum&hgurl=community&fid=fccc3fe26ef64dbdb6cf9328b160e924

No Breadcrumb at all at this page!!!

By the way - the link in your post shows the same result.
A sorry nothing found (which is ok) - but this page is "somewhere" - no breadcrumb, no link back to  the forum where I started the search...

Hello,

In general breadcrumbs describe location of a page in website architecture hierarchy. The principle of search is that is not part of website’s navigation/architecture, it is a helper functionality, this is why it is not common to place a breadcrumb on search results page.

I agree with you when drilling deeper in Telerik website and get no search results when searching you don’t have to repeat your steps to go where you started searching. That’s why our developers will do their best soon to offer a link to go back to the place where you started searching when you don’t get any results from search.
